The day details - The spring rape was just popping up and there was about a hundred on the field when we got there my dad riged me up under a larg oak tree. i shot 20 in the first hour then they stop coming out of the wood. i could see them sat in the tops of the tree. at about 4 oclock they started to come out agian and come out they did i shot 35 in under ahour i had to go to a party so i packed up at 6 oclock leaving the pigeons still coming to the field.

The day details - I had everything ready the night before, so all I had to do was wake up get changed and go. I went to a hide in a hedge that I had previously built a week ago, which I new had a flight line over it. There was a strong southerly wind which was blowing into my back meanig the pigeons would be coming straight towards me. I had only brought 75 cartridges. I set out the 5 shell decoys in a U shape about 40 yards out in front of me. As soon as I sat down a pigeon came into the decoys which I nailed with the right barrel. In the next two hours I ran out of cartridges. I finished with 54 pigeons and 4 crows in the bag.

The day details - Me and my father who are gamekeepers in Northumberland had been watching in interest some pigeons that were feeding on three large been fields. Adjacent two the bean fields were two sowen barley fields which actually had more pigeons feeding on them, so one aternoon we decided to shoot the barley fields. We set up around one o'clock and by about half three we had made a respectable 68! but the best was still to come! so one week later we had been watching pigeons pouring on to the middle one of the three bean fields, so the next morning we rose arly and set up with about 25 defrosted dead pigeons and a pigeon agnet our hide wos in a rather tall hawthon hedge. When we started shooting the pigeons came pretty steady all day an by about dinner time we had around 75! but in the afternoon was when things really hotted up! Pigeons were comming in from all over and we both shot many left and rights. so at the final count we ended up with 147 + the previous 68 a week before comes to a total of 215 in one a half days.

The day details - It was a nice windy saturday morning and it was the last place I had a look at. By this time there was about 100 woodies on the field I set them off and in about 20 minutes they started coming back 4 hours later they stopped and I had 65 in the bag.

The day details - I had been watching a couple of rape fields for almost a week and each day the numbers of birds feeding on them had been increasing. The forcast for the weekend was for overcast skys and freshening winds. I was set up and settling into my hide just before 9am and didnt have to wait long for my first customers of the day. Shooting was steady all day and this bag was achieved with a pattern of 20 shell decoys which were replacd with dead birds once I had a dozen They were determined to be in. I stopped shooting around 4pm. I will be keeping my eyes on these fields.

The day details - Bright and cold,light breeze shooting over static decoys 3-4 hours per day.Shooting a block of four Rape fields 250 acres (large area difficult to pin point the activity) but good sport.Would have done better I'm sure with 'magnet'but was on holiday and didn't take it.

The day details - Very hard frost to begin with it became sunnier as the morning went on but was very cold with slight breeze.

The day details - I'm a part time keeper I've been watching the field four a couple of days and on saturday morning I went to the field and set up ten decoy's with a north westly wind I shot 65 birds in 3hours

The day details - Started off a cold day and remained that way. Me and dingle Dave set the magnet up as usual and settled with a nice cuppa tea. not for long though as they started coming in twenties and thirties as to say we didn't no which to shoot thirtyish birds later we sat just seeing the odd 1 or 2 every 10 mins or so. come 11oclock they were back, we weren't shooting as well as we should be resulting in 120 shells shot by 2 and 72 in the bag. anyway the cold got the better of us and we left in Daves old shogun smoking more than i do,going back in 2 weeks unless theres any good pea fields around we'll let you no how we get on.

The day details - I had noticed whilst out feeding pheasants a large number of pigeons feeding on one of the shoots rape fields, so i decided to go the next day. I woke up at 6 to find that there was a strong north easten wind. i arrived at the feild in the dark and was set up by 7.30. I was shooting with a bettinsoli diamond sporter and fireing 32g high velocity game/comp express, it was still dark. I built my hide between two large ash trees where i had noticed the pigeons oftern sat in. As soon as light started to break the pigions started to come. They came from a large wood about half a mile away. just far enough so that the pigeons could not hear the shots and would not be disturbed by the banging. In the morning i managed to shoot 50 pigeons I was pleased because i had shot 6 left and rights and thought that that was about my lot. I thought that i would stay for the afternoon and see if much else bwas going to fly. It was quiet to start with things soon started to hot up again and before i knew it i was time to pack up.

The day details - snow clearing, shot between two small woods which channeled birds to decoys steady flow all day used pigeon magnet but found better results with home made swooper.
