The day details -
Well we set off for the field at 8 am and arrived at 8.30am and got set up there was round bales in the field so we rolled six together to form our hide. We then placed about 10 shell type decoys looking into the wind in a horse shoe shape soon the pigeons started flying towards us with the wind and they were flying straight over us and turning back into the wind to land as they like to land into the wind. There were four of us shooting by dinnertime as Ian had been at another field but had to leave when the farmer started to bale it. So it was decided to split up for safety sake more than anything, Ian and James went off to the north side of the field and set up a net hide against the hedge which worked well as Geoff and I were in the bale hide in the middle of the field and this kept the pigeons on the move. We all had a very enjoyable day and thanks for this site its good to see people enjoying their sport.

The day details -I was 15 at the time and this was my third or fourth day out shooting with my dad. We set a hide up at the corner of the field and put out about 30 or so decoys after shooting another part of the field but I moaned (as I do) to move and it was a good job! There were HUNDREDS of woodies with most of them coming into the decoys it was great we kept shooting and a hundred or so cartriges later (all homeloads) we managed to bag 46 pigeons (most of them mine!) not bad for a wee guy who has hardly shot before and his cool dad who had not shot since I was born - but now I doubt I will ever stop shooting I LOVE IT so I was happy when I got a text message when I was sitting in maths bored out of my skull saying "Hurry home Alan we are going shooting :)" it wasnt as good today only 24 birds I hope we do better tomorrow cause we are going out to do it all over again :)
