The day details - A Paid days decoying in Oxon. Set out a pattern of dead birds and a magnet. Morning was superb with a lull at lunchtime followed by a quiet afternoon (birds were getting wary by then). With more than one gun in position we could have clobbered more as they were coming in groups of 4+. Didn't bother picking up until after lunch as the shot birds were falling in fairly tall rape.

The day details - Previously i had noticed that the nearby pigeons had become desperate and were finding on new shoots of red clover. I decided to investigate the following day. I started at about 0730 and set my hide up with the pigeon magnet in fine form, the day was looking good as the sun was rising. The pigeons came slowly but soon nice parcels of 4-5 were arriving to devour what seemed new shoots from the previous grazed summer of the dairy cows. I found enthrilling after i had 3 because the pigeons were surprisingly perfect. By the end of the day i had a nice bag and as a true hunter i prepared most of the nicest for pigeon pie for myself and the rest of the family.

The day details - We set out to a band of christmas tree wood at 7:30pm. We initially set out to go for rabbits but there didn't seem to be any. We arrived at this wood and heard some pigeons roosting. We got out the lamp and shone it in the trees most of the pigeons flew away but a couple of the brave ones staying sitting in the tree snuggled together half way up the tree. I kept my lamp on the birds and so too did Mark, mark had a huge maglite torch and i had a hand held torch that i held under the barrel when shooting. I had a shot at the pigeon on the left of the two. I missed the bird which flew off slowly still dazzled by the lamp. Mark shot at his bird it flew off at first over the field we were in and then dropped out of the sky into the field. we both walked over to the dead bird that was face down in the short cut grass that would usually have sheep in. Mark picked it up a shot to the breast with his New Air Arms S400 with walnut stock .177. Mark was pleased with this kill. We will be returning there soon!

The day details - I got up at 5:30am and rang mark to see if he wanted to come and bag some pigeons. He said ok.I said i would meet him at the place we were going to shoot at 7:00am. We both arrived on time and went to set up the hide. Mark brought his newley purchased Air Arms S400 and i took along my Air Arms Pro Elite. We set up the decoys we took in a u shape with their heads facing into the wind. We both got in the hide and waited. The weather was overcast and the temperature was tollerable, it seemed a perfect day for pigeons. After about 15 minutes of waiting a small flock of pigeons flew overhead, caught sight of the decoys and circled down and landed among the decoys. Mark loaded his Air Arms and took the first shot and dropped the pigeon like a stone. The other flew away to near by trees but we were confident they would return. We were correct they did return. I took the next shot and dropped another in the space of 25 mins. Just think how many we could end up with at the end of a full days shooting.
