The total number of pigeons shot = 22 Woodies, 18 Bunnies
Gender - male
The gun you used - 12 Bore
Bag Date - 28/09/02
The Crop type - Freshly Drilled Fields
The day details - This was my first outing with my new lanber, I choked it 3/4 and full at the start for some long range bunnies and some high gulls. Then just wanted to concentrate on pigeons coming into land, i was just waiting at a bottom of a large oak tree and was popping them off at 35-50 yards and the gun was now choked 1/2 and 3/4 (my favorite), so after 90 carts fired i had killed 18 bunnies and 22 pigeons so not too bad.

The total number of pigeons shot = 164
Gender - male
The gun you used - 20 Bore
Bag Date - april 16th 2002
The Crop type - spring rape
The day details - It very still bright day, the farmer and i started about 9.30, this was slightly late as the pigeons were feeding already. we set up using a home made pigeon magnet. the birds came in 3 and 4s all day long via two flight lines. the cartridge ratio was 3-1. We packed up around 6 o clock and picked up 164, however the rape was long and with out dogs it made picking up very hard. All in all a good days sport!

Pigeon Shooters name - James Freeman
Part of UK bag was shot - East Anglia
The total number of pigeons shot = 2 Fox's, 30 Bunnies
Gender - male
The gun you used - Other Shotgun
Bag Date - 31/08/02
The Crop type - A little bit of everything
The day details - Firstly we just mainly used .22 Anschultz 1417 carbine rimfire firstly as we started at about 5:45pm and we were just driving around the farm in the land Rover and shooting the bunnies from the sunroof, then at about 7:45pm we decided to put away the rimfire and get out the Sako 75 Varmint Heavy Barrel .223 for some foxing. As we had started to spot fox's on the main stubble field in daylight before we parked up at the bottom, then just started to try and squeak a few in. After bout 10 min we saw the first fox, it was a fully grown male about 600yards away so we continued to squeak it in until it stopped at about 200yards, then just gave it bout 1 inch of holdover and boom down he went. After we picked him up we just drove around to find another field to wait, so we stopped in the middle of a freshly cut bean field and again just waited and squeaked them in. As it was dark now we just gave the lamp a shine around every 5 mins. Then we picked up a young fox about 70yards away so being so near had an easy shot.

The gun you used - 12 Bore
Bag Date - 18/8/02
The Crop type - wheat stubble
The day details - The day started cool with birds drifting in steadily I used two diving decoys & one gliding decoy from the Cornish decoy co these really pulled the birds in from a great distance I can really recommend them, towards midday the birds slowed picking up again around 4ish through till 6ish I checked the crops of some of the birds throughout the day and was surprised to find them empty proving that there is no rush in hot weather, with the amount of food available to pigeons at present you have to make the most of all opportunities

Pigeon Shooters name - John and Bob

The total number of pigeons shot = 180 (approx)
Gender - Male
The gun you used - 12 Gauge
Bag Date - 14/07/02
The Crop type - Swathed Rape
The day details - Had had a bad day on rape on the saturday with only 15 birds. So on sunday i got in the car for a ride and found a field of rape which was alive with pigeons, so I went to see the owner and and got the go a head. I roared home to get my gear and was set up buy 12.45 with a magnet and five decoys, In the first hour I shot 50 birds, so I rang Bob to come and give me a hand. We packed up at 6.30 as the pigeons had slowed up,we had 290 shots for 180+ pigeons. It was a shame we could'nt fined them all, but we did'nt want to knock to much rape out. It was are best ever total and just goes to say somtimes a knock on the can pay off.

The day details - This was just general rough shooting and was'nt in the same place for more than 10 mins, at one point there was 20 rabbits in the same place and struggling to reload quick enough to get them, then the 4 crows ere off of the back of a quad bike and all of the pigeon where shot leaving the trees and crossing in front on me. I was using my Mossberg 9200 12 bore with Express 32gram 6's with 1/4 and 3/8 chokes.

The Crop type - Chickweed surrounding rape
The day details - Haynes in Bedfordshire.Had quick look over fields and set-up hide in bushes in front of tree and 15 decoys at 2pm,had 1 shot, moved round to corner of field out of wind and had 38 shots in the space of 2hrs.and picked up 21 pigeons, decoy pattern must have been very convincing to pigeons as one actuallylanded and promply mounted a real decoy trying to mate with it,that won't happen again, had to cut short day and leave at 4:30 to rush home, but if I had shot better and had all day there I'm sure the figure would have been a lot better.

The total number of pigeons shot = 111
Gender - Male
The gun you used - 12 Gauge
Bag Date - 29/06/02
The Crop type - Peas
The day details - I had been watching this field of peas for about a week so by this time I had found that there was one direct flightline. So with this knowledge I set up my hide under some pine trees, I was using just my two bird magnet. I had my first shot at 2:30PM and my last shot at 4:30 PM, I had 146 shots for 111 pigeons. The pigeons were still coming in when I had stopped shooting so I think there is still another good day to be had on this field!

The total number of pigeons shot = 7 woodies, 6 bunnies, 4 rooks

The gun you used - 12 Gauge
Bag Date - 29/06/02
The Crop type - Grassland
The day details - This was one of 6the first outings with My Mossberg 9200 12 gauge semi. I arrived at my shoot which is a Sheep farm at around 1 pm. I just set a hide under a tree on piece of land that stuck out into the field I would be shooting into. I decided to firstly go after the large amounts of bunnies in the area so i stuck the 3/4 choke on a loaded up some Victory Mini Mags 40gram 1's on this little walk I managed to bag 6 bunnies although many were only little ones this was more of a vermin shoot than a game shoot. So shortly after I returned to my hide and then chose to pay attention to the rooks overhead so then I stuck my full choke on as they were flying overhead at about 50-65yards and loaded up some of Express Max Game Magnums 53g 1's which I had recently bought I had about 12 shots and manged to get 4 of them to hit. So after that the rooks seemed to stay away so just before I went home I thought I would hang around for a while to pick off the stray pigeons flying about so I swapped chokes once again for a 1/4 and loaded up some Express HV 32gram 6's. I managed to get 7 woodies, all of them shot come left to right into the wind heading for one of the pea fields to the left. So overall I felt it wasn't a bad day out and without the use of decoys didn't do too badly and also got to know the gun better even though the firing pin managed to break at the end (dont ask me why?).

The day details - We had been watching this field from the previous days shooting, and so on Sunday we went down again to watch the pigeon's flightlines. We decided we had better go shooting on the monday as there were at least 500-1000 Pigeons feeding on this field! I got to the field at about 2.30pm and I was set up by 3:00PM with just my two bird magnet again. My hide consisted of digging out a plough furrow and putting ivy bushes behind me and as the peas were so tall and there was quite a bit of rubbish in the peas I could not been seen from the from. The birds started to come in instantly, this is the first time I have seen the magnet at it's best, at one stage I had to stop shooting as my barrels were getting that warm!! Roy Turned up at about 5.15pm by this stage I decided to watch him and he hit some crackers at 60-70 yards. We stopped shooting at about 8:30, this is the first big bag that I have shot with the magnet. Roy ended up shooting 43, my dad came for about 30 minutes and shot 4 and I (NICK) shot 95.

The day details - Had a ride round the local area couldn't find a pigeon anywhere. The Mrs wanted some DIY doing so a trip to the local B&Q superstore - was the order of the afternoon. Low and behold behind there were two fields of peas just coming through and the pigeons were just pouring in. A quick phone call to the farmer, bingo ,within 15 minutes I was back! I set up beneath an electric pylon with the wind at my back 10 dead birds in a half horseshoe pattern,by the time i'd got back to the hide the first pigeons were in the decoys. Steady shooting followed with 106 birds for 149 shots all of this in only 3hours and 25 minutes. So not a bad afternoon of DIY thankyou very much.

As soon as I was there pigeon were coming in, I could not load the gun fast enough!! I was glad i was using a pump action 3 shot, but I had to pack up a 3pm because I had used all my 250 cartridges. The gun you used - 12 Bore
Bag Date - 29th March 2002
The Crop type - Rape
The day details - Started decoying at about 10AM When we arrived there were at least 200/300 pigeons on the rape alternating between fields!! It was a big problem trying to keep them moving from the other fields towards our decoy pattern. There are at least 5 Rape fields on this particular piece of land and this made it pretty difficult to say the least....

The gun you used - 12 Bore
Bag Date - 5th March 2002
The Crop type - Drilled Barley
The day details - I got to the field at about 6:30am, there was a slight side wind and it was quite dull. Set up my hide in front of an Ivy bush which was in a belt of fir trees and Ivy trees, set up my pattern of 16 dead birds including two bouncers and my two bird magnet. I was using the magnet mainly to attract the birds from distance, then shooting them over the pattern this seemed to work well as I shot 20 in the first hour, at one stage I couldnt load the gun quick enough! After this the birds slowed right up but they kept coming in steadily until 3.00pm. It was a very enjoyable day the highlight being shooting 5 birds in the space of 60 seconds (2 doubles and a single) I had just over 90 shots and bagged 66 pigeons

Bag Date - 9th March 2002
The Crop type - Drillings
The day details - I got to the field at 11 oclock about 150 birds working the far side sat to watch flight lines in and out of field on the side where i had to set up was one small bush with a ditch in front. I set my hide on the field in front of a bush because there was water in the ditch I put 15 dead birds out in a horseshoe the birds came back but where hard to decoy but didnt vere off the hide I changed pattern to make as wide as I could which helped the wind kept blowing the hide over so I had to get in the ditch the water halfway up my boots (the dog didnt think a lot of it!) the birds came in very well so the hide on field must have been putting them off. I manged a couple of left and rights but the wind was so strong the first bird was ok but the second was on limit of range in the end I was holding the hide up it was the hardest day in a hide in years after four hours i packed in you need to be comftable to shoot well.

Pigeon Shooters name - James Shores

The total number of pigeons shot = 71
Gender - Male
The gun you used - 12 Bore
Bag Date - 22/02/02
The Crop type - Rape Seed
The day details - I was driving around with a friend looking for pigeons, when we came across a farmers field blued over with pigeons so we went around and asked for permission which was given, so we went to set up, which seemed to take forever because we were rushing because the pigeons were just wanting to come in. After what seemed to be ages we were ready and after about 20minutes we had 15 birds. To cut a long story short we had to pack up early because we both had run out of cartridges, well at least we saved lots for another day!
